Reflections of the Cocos (Keeling) Islands

Over several years Karen has gathered a selection of images mainly from the southern Atoll of the Cocos (Keeling) Islands, showcasing its natural beauty both above and below.  From the tropical feel of coconut palm fringed beaches and roads, turquoise blue waters and the Cocos lagoon to life underwater with stunning coral scenes, myriad of marine life and her favourite subject, Kat the lone dugong, Karen has brought Cocos to the world.

Cocos is utopia; a paradise where time stands still, a jewel in the middle of the Indian Ocean.  Little to no commercialism, unique boutique holiday accommodation, crowds that don’t exist and the feeling of belonging as soon as you step off the aircraft and immerse yourself in Cocos time.  Visitors boomerang year after year; their reason, Cocos is Cocos!  Safe, quiet; or busy depending on what you are seeking.  It doesn’t matter really; smile and be welcomed by the residents. That’s Cocos; a small community who know how to have a great time and will band together when the going gets tough.
