There is nothing more exhilarating than to have an experience with a Manta Ray head on. The Cocos (Keeling) Islands are blessed to have a resident group of reef mantas that often feed in the lagoon or visit a shallow bombie at the entrance of the lagoon to have their gills and mouths cleaned by wrasse to remove any parasites. Divers have been lucky to see 15 mantas at once circling the bombie waiting their turn. These are not trained creatures; they come when they feel like it, sometimes they are shy, other times they have no fear of divers. This was one of those unique and special times.
